The San Francisco 49ers put on a strong display on Thursday night, crushing the Giants 30-12 in their first game of the season to go up 3-0 at home.
San Francisco has won three games in the first three weeks of the season, a feat not seen since 2019. The 49ers have won 13 straight regular-season games after this victory, and quarterback Brock Purdy’s unbeaten streak in the regular year extends to 8-0 dating back to his last season.
The 49ers were missing one of their key wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, for the match. But the team had no issue cutting the giant’s defense, converting on all five of their red zone trips.
Christian McCaffrey’s usual lively demeanor contributed to the team’s passing game, with 85 yards and a score, as well as five catches for 34 yards. Deebo Samuel had six of his 12 targets for 129 yards and a touchdown, while Purdy finished the game with 310 passing yards.
Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley Struggle Against a Tough 49ers Defense
For the New York Giants, it was a tough day against a formidable San Francisco defense. Daniel Jones only gained 137 yards through the air, and the backfield Saquon Barkley gained only 29 yards on the ground.
The 49ers remain 3-0 going in, while the loss dropped the Giants to 1-2 on the year, leaving Brian Daboll’s crew with many questions going forward, in particular about the offense.
Head coach Brian Daboll gave credit to the 49ers after the game. “That’s a heck of a team,” he said. “Usually comes down to making plays when you have an opportunity to make plays, and they did a good job.”49ers win against Giants
