The Atlanta Braves hired Tim Hyers as their new hitting coach on Thursday after making changes to manager Brian Snitker’s staff.

The 53-year-old Hyers comes to the Braves after spending the last three seasons in the same role with the Texas Rangers, where he was part of the team that won the World Series in 2023.

Hyers takes over for Kevin Seitzer, who was one of three coaches let go by Atlanta after a season filled with injuries ended with a two-game sweep by the San Diego Padres in the NL Wild Card Series.

Seitzer had been the hitting coach for 10 years. Assistant hitting coach Bobby Magallanes and catching coach Sal Fasano were also fired by the Braves.

Hyers previously worked as hitting coach for the Boston Red Sox from 2018 to 2021, and before that, he was the assistant hitting coach with the Los Angeles Dodgers for two years. He has coached a dozen Silver Slugger winners during his career.

Hyers is originally from Atlanta and played as a first baseman and outfielder in 133 games over four seasons in the major leagues with San Diego, Detroit, and the Marlins.
