Russell Wilson may face some competition with the Steelers after recent developments.

Following the trade of Kenny Pickett to the Eagles and the recent acquisition of Wilson from the Broncos, the Steelers have now added Justin Fields to their roster.

According to reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears will receive a 2025 sixth-round pick, which could potentially upgrade to a fourth-round pick if Fields plays over 51 percent of the offensive plays this season.

This move solidifies the Bears’ intentions with the No. 1 overall pick, confirming their decision to draft a quarterback, with USC’s Caleb Williams being the likely choice.

After three years with the Bears, the departure of Fields was anticipated, despite his promising potential. The fact that the Bears accepted a third-day pick from the Steelers speaks volumes about the perception of Fields around the league.

Fields join the Steelers’ quarterbacks room, which has undergone significant changes, transitioning from Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph to Wilson and now Fields. Initial reports suggest that Fields will serve as the backup in Pittsburgh.

Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Fields’ future with the Steelers will be under scrutiny, with the team having to decide whether to exercise his fifth-year option, which would guarantee him $25 million for the 2025 season.

In terms of financials, the Steelers have made a savvy move, signing Wilson to a one-year deal at the veteran minimum of $1.21 million, while Fields is set to earn $3.233 million for this season.
