Panthers head coach Dave Canales mentioned this summer that the team hoped rookie running back Jonathon Brooks would be in the lineup by Week Three or Four, but he will return a bit later than that.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Panthers will keep Brooks on the non-football injury list at the start of the regular season. This will keep him off the active roster and make him ineligible to play in the first four games of the season.
Brooks tore his ACL during his last season at Texas, but the Panthers still picked him in the second round in April.
Miles Sanders, Chuba Hubbard, Mike Boone, Raheem Blackshear, and Jaden Shirden are the other running backs on the roster in Carolina before the final cuts.
