Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears did exactly what they aimed to do against one of the weakest teams in the NFL. This week, they have another significant change ahead.
The Bears will face Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars in London after dominating the struggling Carolina Panthers with a score of 36-10 on Sunday.
“We have Jacksonville, and they present issues like every other team does, and we’ve got to deal with those issues and then we have to focus on our execution,” coach Matt Eberflus said on Monday.
The Bears executed their game plan well against Carolina.
Chicago (3-2) achieved season highs in both scoring and total yards (424) and converted three takeaways into 16 points.
This victory marked the Bears’ second straight win after two losses and their biggest win since defeating the New York Giants 29-3 in Week 17 of the 2021 season.
Williams had his best game yet.
The No. 1 overall draft pick completed 20 of 29 passes for 304 yards, throwing two touchdowns to DJ Moore and not throwing any interceptions. His passer rating of 126.2 was the highest by a Bears rookie since the AFL-NFL merger. The previous record was 121.1 set by Jim McMahon against the Los Angeles Rams on December 26, 1982.
Gervon Dexter recorded his fourth sack and a fumble recovery, while Kevin Byard made his 29th interception.
