Donovan Mitchell scored 29 points, while Jarrett Allen recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 110-98 on Wednesday night. This victory brings the Cavaliers within reach of securing a playoff spot.
Despite dealing with left knee soreness for the past two months, All-Star shooting guard Mitchell also contributed eight assists in just his 10th game since February 15. Although the Cavaliers have lost 11 of their last 17 games, they currently hold the fourth position in the Eastern Conference standings.
Cleveland needs just one more win to secure a top-six finish and clinch their second consecutive playoff appearance. They can achieve this by winning either Friday night’s game against Indiana or Sunday’s match against Charlotte, both of which will be played at home.
Meanwhile, Jake LaRavia had a standout performance for the injury-riddled Memphis team, scoring a career-high 32 points and sinking eight 3-pointers. GG Jackson II contributed 22 points, while Scotty Pippen Jr. added 18 points and six assists.
