Brayan Rocchio, the shortstop for the Cleveland Guardians, hit a single that brought home Ramón Laureano, who was automatically placed on second base, in the 10th inning. This secured a 5-4 win for the Guardians over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.

The Guardians tied the game in the ninth inning when David Fry hit a solo home run against Andrew Chafin. Then, Rocchio’s decisive hit-off Tigers closer Alex Lange sealed the victory for Cleveland.

Rocchio expressed his joy, saying, “It’s a super incredible feeling… I’ve been working for so long to get these types of moments, and it feels really nice when I finally get here.”

Rocchio’s steal of second base and subsequent run, aided by an error from Tigers’ catcher Jake Rogers, helped the Guardians narrow the score to 4-3 in the eighth inning. This set the stage for Rocchio’s walk-off hit, giving Cleveland their ninth series win out of 12 this season.

David Fry praised Rocchio’s performance, saying, “We knew he was going to walk it off, are you kidding? He’s been unbelievable at shortstop every day.”

Emmanuel Clase earned the win for Cleveland with a scoreless inning pitched. With this victory, Cleveland now shares the second-best record in the American League at 24-13.

The Tigers took a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning, with rookie Colt Keith’s two-run single being a highlight. However, Cleveland rallied back, ultimately securing the win.

Despite a strong performance by Tigers’ starter Reese Olson, who allowed only one hit in six innings, he remained winless in seven outings since September 20, 2023.
