The Dallas Mavericks have made significant moves this offseason by adding Klay Thompson and Naji Marshall in free agency, which has left them with one open spot on their roster. As they consider how to fill that spot, they have turned their attention to their two-way contracts.

Dallas has announced the re-signing of Brandon Williams to a two-way contract. He initially signed this deal in December last season and impressed with an average of 24.1 points per game in seven appearances for their G-League team. He also played sparingly for the Mavericks, averaging 3.2 points per game in 17 games.

Williams played college basketball at Arizona and went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Since then, he has played for teams like the Westchester Knicks, College Park Skyhawks, and Osceola Magic.

Dallas noticed his performance, particularly when he averaged 22.4 points per game in the G-League Showcase for Osceola. During his time with College Park, he played alongside current Maverick A.J. Lawson.

A two-way contract allows players to split their time between the NBA and the G-League, with restrictions on the number of days they can spend in the NBA. This setup gives teams the opportunity to closely monitor the development of their young players.
