The Green Bay Packers made some big changes to their team on Tuesday when they announced their 53-man roster. They picked up a new backup quarterback, lost their No. 2 running back for the season due to an injury, and cut their current kicker.

The Packers traded a 2025 seventh-round draft pick to the Tennessee Titans for quarterback Malik Willis. They then cut quarterbacks Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt, leaving only Jordan Love and Willis as their quarterbacks.

The team also released kicker Anders Carlson and put AJ Dillon (with a stinger) and tight end Tyler Davis (with a shoulder injury) on injured reserve. Dillon and Davis will not be able to play for the rest of the season.

Before acquiring Willis, Green Bay didn’t have many experienced options to back up Love, who signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension this summer after leading the Packers to an NFC divisional playoff game in his first year as the starting quarterback.

Willis, who is 25 years old, made three starts for Tennessee in his rookie year after being drafted by the Titans out of Liberty in the third round in 2022. The Titans had a 1-2 record in those games, with the only win coming in Houston where Willis threw just 10 passes, including only one in the second half.

He has never thrown for more than 99 yards in any game. As the season ended with the AFC South title on the line, Tennessee chose to start Joshua Dobbs instead of Willis.

In his three career starts, Willis has completed 25 of 49 passes for 234 yards, with three interceptions and no touchdown passes. He has run for 95 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries in those games.

In his first two seasons, Willis has completed 53% of his passes for 350 yards, with three interceptions and is still looking for his first touchdown pass. He has 32 carries for 144 yards and one touchdown.
