The skilled but frequently injured cornerback Jeff Okudah has had his season disrupted by another injury.
The Texans put Okudah on injured reserve today after he hurt his hip in the first game of the season.
Originally selected as the third pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Okudah started his career with the Lions, where he played in only 25 games over his first three years. He was then traded to the Falcons and appeared in 13 games last year.
Okudah joined the Texans this offseason but suffered the hip injury on just his fifth play of the season.
To possibly fill Okudah’s spot, the Texans added two cornerbacks to their practice squad: Desmond King and Troy Pride.
King, who was with the team last season and throughout this offseason before being released when the Texans set their 53-player roster, might be a good option to move up to the active roster for additional cornerback depth.
The Texans also promoted linebacker Rashad Weaver from the practice squad to the active roster.
