Jacksonville is parting ways with cornerback Darious Williams, a veteran presence on their defense. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Jaguars intend to release Williams, who has been with the team for the past two seasons.

During the 2023 season, Williams started all 17 games for Jacksonville, showcasing his skills with four interceptions, 19 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and three tackles for loss. He joined the Jaguars in March 2022, signing a three-year contract after winning Super Bowl LVI with the Rams.

By releasing Williams, the Jaguars will free up $11.5 million in cap space, a move that could facilitate other roster decisions, including the potential use of the franchise tag on edge rusher Josh Allen.

While Jacksonville is prepared to release Williams, there remains the possibility of a trade involving the veteran corner. Throughout his career spanning 80 games, Williams has amassed 10 interceptions and 62 passes defensed.
