The Jaguars have taken decisive steps to manage their cap space ahead of the new league year, utilizing the franchise tag on linebacker Josh Allen and making key roster moves to ensure compliance.
Three anticipated moves were executed, including the releases of defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi and cornerback Darious Williams. Safety Rayshawn Jenkins was identified as a potential cap casualty, a move that was confirmed by PFT.
Jenkins, who signed a four-year deal with the Jaguars in 2021, has been a consistent presence in the team’s defense, starting in every game he played over the last three seasons.
His contributions include 101 tackles, a sack, two interceptions, and nine passes defensed in regular-season action, along with 14 tackles and a pass defensed in postseason play after the 2022 season.
The release of Jenkins provides the Jaguars with over $5 million in cap relief, although it also results in over $7 million in dead money.
