Chiefs defensive end BJ Thompson has been on the non-football illness list all summer and will stay there into the fall.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the team will keep Thompson on the list as they trim their roster to 53 players.
Thompson experienced cardiac arrest after having a seizure during a team meeting in June.
Pelissero adds that there is hope Thompson will be able to play later in the season, but he will miss at least the first four games.
The Chiefs selected Thompson in the fifth round last year, and he made two tackles in his only regular season game.
