Philadelphia Flyers celebrates after scoring

Eeli Tolvanen, Jordan Eberle, and Shane Wright scored three goals in under three minutes during the second period, helping the Seattle Kraken beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-4 on Thursday night.

Tolvanen’s goal gave Seattle a 3-2 lead at 14:57. Eberle then scored at 17:44, making it a two-goal game, and just eight seconds later, Wright scored to extend the lead to three goals.

Jared McCann had previously tied the game at 2-2 with Seattle’s first goal in the second period.

In the third period, Cam York and Jamie Drysdale scored for the Flyers, bringing the score to 5-4. However, Oliver Bjorkstrand answered with a goal for Seattle, restoring their two-goal lead with just over five minutes left in the game.

Scott Laughton scored two goals for the Flyers in the first period, while Brandon Montour added one for the Kraken.

Chandler Stephenson recorded an assist in his 500th NHL game. Seattle’s goalie, Philipp Grubauer, made 21 saves.

Laughton is having a strong start, with two goals and three points in four games. Last season, he didn’t score his second goal until his 24th game.

This win marked the first home victory for head coach Dan Bylsma. The Kraken lost their home opener to St. Louis on October 8, 3-2.

After York and Drysdale scored, it seemed like Seattle’s three-goal lead might be at risk. But Bjorkstrand’s breakaway goal at 14:51 extended the Kraken’s lead to two goals, allowing the crowd to feel more relaxed in the final minutes.
