Kicker Cameron Dicker has signed a four-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Chargers, a source told The Associated Press on Friday.
The contract is valued at $22.04 million, with $12.5 million guaranteed, according to the source who wished to remain anonymous because the terms were not officially announced. ESPN was the first to report the details of the deal.
Since joining the Chargers midway through the 2022 season, Dicker has made 50 out of 53 field goal attempts.
Including the two field goals he made earlier that season with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dicker’s accuracy rate of 94.5% (52 out of 55) is the highest for any kicker in NFL history with at least 50 attempts. He has also successfully made all 59 of his extra-point attempts.
During the preseason, Dicker made all six of his field goals, including a 58-yard kick against Seattle on August 10, which would have been the second longest in franchise history if it had been a regular-season game.
He also made a 55-yard field goal a week later against the Los Angeles Rams.
Dicker is the only active kicker with at least 40 attempts to have made all his field goals from 50 yards or less (45 out of 45). The closest in accuracy is Baltimore’s Justin Tucker, who has a 95.5% rate (337 out of 353).
The Chargers will start the season under new coach Jim Harbaugh on September 8, when they play against the Las Vegas Raiders.
