The Miami Dolphins are adding defensive tackle Teair Tart to their team with a one-year contract, according to a source familiar with the negotiations, speaking anonymously to The Associated Press on Friday because the deal has not been officially announced.
In 2023, Tart started nine games for the Titans and recorded 21 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and a sack before being waived in December. He was then claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans and played two games, making three tackles.
Originally undrafted from Florida International in 2020, Tart has accumulated 79 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, and 14 quarterback hits in his career. He spent his first four seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
Tart joins several defensive additions made by the Dolphins this offseason, including Benito Jones, Neville Gallimore, Jonathan Harris, Shaquil Barrett, Anthony Walker Jr., Kendall Fuller, and Jordan Poyer.
