Major League Baseball’s postseason is currently attracting an average of 3.33 million viewers as it heads into the League Championship Series, which is an 18% increase from last year’s average of 2.82 million.
During the Division Series, the average viewership was 3.56 million for 18 games, up 14% from the previous year.
The rise in ratings during the division round is thanks to two series going the full five games and the participation of both New York teams, along with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies.
On Friday night, the NLDS Game 5 between the Dodgers and San Diego Padres drew an average of 7.5 million viewers across Fox, Fox Deportes, and streaming platforms, making it the most-watched Division Series game since 2017.
On Saturday afternoon, the deciding game between the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers averaged 3.42 million viewers on TBS, marking the highest viewership for a Division Series day game (before 4 p.m.) in 17 years. This game was rescheduled from night to afternoon due to potential bad weather.
Fox and FS1 recorded an average of 4.09 million viewers for the National League games, their best ratings since postseason games started airing on FS1 in 2014. Fox also benefited from the Phillies-Mets series, with the Mets advancing in four games.
TNT Sports averaged 3 million viewers for the ALDS games broadcast on TBS and TNT, where the Yankees won against Kansas City in four games.
