On Monday, the NBA imposed a $25,000 fine on the New York Knicks because Mitchell Robinson was initially declared injured but later played in a game against Toronto.
Robinson’s absence due to a left ankle injury lasted for 50 games until he returned to the Knicks’ 145-101 win over the Raptors on March 27. The 7-foot center scored eight points in 12 minutes during that game.
Since coming back from the longest injury break in his six-year career, Robinson has participated in six out of seven games. The 26-year-old had started the first 21 games before getting a stress fracture in his ankle during a loss to Boston on December 8.
The fine comes after the NBA fined Philadelphia $100,000 for the same violation related to Joel Embiid’s return. Embiid had been out for 29 games after left knee surgery.
