The New Orleans Saints have secured their first-round draft pick, Taliese Fuaga, with a contract lasting four years. The agreement was announced on Thursday, just ahead of the Saints’ rookie camp starting the next day.
Fuaga, standing tall at 6-foot-6 and weighing 324 pounds, is likely to see significant playing time, if not a starting role, right away. With players like Andrus Peat and James Hurst moving on, the Saints have openings on the offensive line.
Complicating matters further is Ryan Ramczyk’s recovery from knee surgery, which Coach Dennis Allen has described as uncertain.
Additionally, Trevor Penning, the Saints’ first-round pick from 2022, faced challenges last season due to injury, though the team remains optimistic about his future.
Under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, the Saints are expected to emphasize outside zone runs, a style that aligns well with Fuaga’s strengths in running and blocking in open space.
