The New York Giants still have faith in Daniel Jones, but they’re keeping their options open by checking out other quarterbacks. They might even choose one with their sixth pick in the NFL draft.

“There are some talented quarterbacks out there,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said on Tuesday.

While Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye are expected to be picked earlier, J.J. McCarthy could still be available. Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr. are also options if the Giants decide to trade back.

Daboll is taking a close look at all of them. “I enjoy evaluating quarterbacks,” he said. “It’s a great position to work with and it’s interesting to assess.”

Last year, the Giants gave Jones a big contract extension, but he had some struggles last season. Despite this, Daboll confirmed that Jones will remain the starting quarterback, with Drew Lock as the backup. Giants owner John Mara mentioned that while they want Jones to succeed, they won’t hesitate to draft a new quarterback if they believe it’s the right move.
