The New York Rangers have finalized terms with Swedish goaltender Hugo Ollas on a two-year entry-level contract, announced by General Manager Chris Drury on Friday. The 21-year-old netminder featured prominently for Merrimack College this season, participating in 21 games and achieving a commendable 2.84 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.
Over his three-year tenure with the Warriors, Ollas amassed 64 appearances, maintaining a 27-27 record, a solid 2.48 GAA, a .914 save percentage, and secured six shutouts.
During the 2022-23 season, Ollas showcased his skills with a 10-9 record, a .915 save percentage, and an impressive tally of five shutouts. Before his time at Merrimack, Ollas gained valuable experience in the Swedish Hockey League, featuring in 11 games during the 2020-21 season. Additionally, he represented the Swedish U17 team in international competitions.
Ollas’s journey to the Rangers began when he was selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, marking the commencement of what promises to be a promising career in the NHL.
