Three months ago today, the Lions managed to confuse both the Cowboys and referee Brad Allen about which of their offensive linemen were eligible for a potential two-point conversion.

Despite this, the NFL did not discuss changing the rule during the recent league meetings. The Lions, who successfully passed a proposal for a third red-flag challenge, could have suggested a new rule regarding this matter, but they chose not to.

Team president Rod Wood stated that they believed they handled the situation correctly and saw no need for further action.

The Lions’ tactic involved having multiple players approach the referee simultaneously to mislead the Cowboys.

However, there was no proposal the Lions could make to justify this tactic while ensuring the referee’s compliance. Wood also mentioned his complaints to the league office after the game, revealing that the NFL requires teams to wait until the next morning to register complaints.

Despite ongoing communication with the league, no new rule proposals were made, as any attempt to formalize their tactic would only confirm their attempt to deceive the Cowboys with the referee’s assistance.
