The Oakland Athletics added left-handed pitcher T.J. McFarland to their 40-man roster after acquiring him from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for cash on Tuesday.
McFarland, aged 34, joined the Dodgers on a minor league contract in January and performed well during spring training, recording a 1.35 ERA in seven games.
Last year, he appeared in three relief outings for the New York Mets, where he posted a 5.40 ERA. However, McFarland found success in Triple-A with both the Baltimore Orioles’ Norfolk team and the Mets’ Syracuse affiliate, tallying a 2.30 ERA in 44 relief appearances.
Throughout his career spanning 11 seasons, McFarland has accumulated a record of 24 wins and 16 losses with a 4.14 ERA while playing for various teams, including Baltimore, Arizona, Oakland, St. Louis, and the Mets.
