With Justin Fields ready to start his second game in a row for the Steelers, the team is adding some extra support at wide receiver with Ben Skowronek now available.
This morning, the Steelers announced they had moved Skowronek from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.
After the game, Skowronek will return to the practice squad, but since he was also moved up for Week One, the Steelers may soon make him a permanent part of the 53-player roster.
Skowronek, drafted in the seventh round by the Rams in 2021, spent three years with Los Angeles before being traded to the Texans in May. He didn’t make the Texans’ roster and then joined the Steelers’ practice squad.
Last week, Skowronek didn’t play on offense but did get 11 snaps on special teams.
