Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag anticipates an intriguing clash in the upcoming Manchester derby against Manchester City on Sunday, March 3. The long-standing rivals are set to renew their fierce rivalry at the Etihad Stadium for the second time this season in the Premier League.

In their previous encounter back in October, Manchester City emerged triumphant with a convincing 3-0 victory at Old Trafford. However, as they prepare to host their rivals once again, Ten Hag is optimistic about a different outcome this time around.

Despite a setback in the Premier League with a home defeat to Fulham, Ten Hag’s side showcased resilience by bouncing back with a victory over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round. Manchester United has demonstrated solid form since the start of the year, securing six wins in their last seven matches across various competitions.

Expressing confidence ahead of the derby clash, Ten Hag assured that his team would be well-prepared for the challenge. Drawing inspiration from their past commendable performances against Liverpool and Manchester City, he emphasized the team’s positive momentum and eagerness for the upcoming fixture.

He stated:

“We’ve been in good form lately, and the team spirit is high. We’ve proven ourselves against City and Liverpool before, and we’re ready to do it again. Our preparation will be thorough, and the players are eagerly anticipating the match. I can sense the excitement, and I’m looking forward to it.”

In the FA Cup fixture against Nottingham Forest on February 28, Casemiro emerged as the hero for Manchester United, securing a narrow victory with a header in the 89th minute, propelling them into the quarterfinals where they are set to face Liverpool at home.

Meanwhile, in the Premier League, they continue to strive for a place in the top four, currently trailing by eight points.
