Davante Adams concluded the 2023 NFL season with 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns, a commendable performance albeit a dip compared to his previous year’s stellar stats of 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The strained rapport between former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels and his team possibly impacted Adams’ productivity. However, following the overhaul triggered by McDaniels’ dismissal, along with general manager Dave Ziegler and offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi, changes have swiftly ensued.
The Raiders wasted no time in filling these vacancies, with Antonio Pierce officially assuming the head coach role after stepping in as an interim replacement for McDaniels. Similarly, Tom Telesco will continue his tenure within the AFC West as the Raiders’ general manager.
Moreover, Kliff Kingsbury has been appointed as the new offensive coordinator. This move has stirred some apprehension among fans, as one expressed concern by saying, “Pray for Davante Adams.” Before his stint as the Cardinals’ head coach, Kingsbury coached Patrick Mahomes during their time at Texas Tech. However, his track record includes only two winning seasons in six years and two bowl game losses.
In the NFL, Kingsbury led the Cardinals to one playoff appearance in four seasons, culminating in a defeat to the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 Wild Card Round. The Cardinals’ season also saw a downturn, transitioning from a promising 7-0 start to an 11-6 finish before the playoffs.
Reports suggest that following his termination by the Cardinals, Kingsbury opted for a break from coaching activities, allegedly booking a one-way ticket to Thailand, showing no immediate interest in returning to the sidelines last year.
