As April started, the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers were looking good for the playoffs, and the Colorado Avalanche seemed likely to win the Central Division.
But things have changed quickly. The Capitals lost six games in a row, the Flyers lost seven, and the Avalanche lost three out of four.
Now, the playoff picture looks different, with teams like Pittsburgh, Detroit, and the New York Islanders gaining ground in the Eastern Conference.
In the Central Division, Dallas is pulling ahead, positioning themselves for home-ice advantage in the Stanley Cup Final.
Dylan Strome, the Capitals’ top scorer, explained, “When you’re winning, everything feels easy. But when you’re losing, it feels like nothing goes your way. It’s frustrating.”
With only a week left in the regular season, these teams need to find a way to bounce back quickly.
