After securing Russell Wilson as their backup quarterback and acquiring Justin Fields as his backup, the Steelers have now added another quarterback to their roster.

Pittsburgh has signed quarterback Kyle Allen, as confirmed by General Manager Omar Khan during today’s league meeting.

Allen, who is 28 years old, entered the NFL in 2018 as an undrafted rookie with the Panthers. Since then, he has had stints with Carolina, Washington, Houston, and Buffalo. Although he had a significant amount of playing time in 2019 with Carolina, starting 12 games, his performance was not exceptional.

However, he has demonstrated enough talent to remain on NFL rosters as a backup quarterback.

With the addition of Allen, the Steelers now have three quarterbacks on their roster. They might consider adding a fourth quarterback for training camp, but for now, Wilson, Fields, and Allen are likely to make up their quarterback depth chart.

In addition to signing Allen, the Steelers have also acquired defensive end Dean Lowry. Lowry appeared in nine games for the Vikings last year, starting in four of them.
