Right-handed pitcher Jacob Waguespack has signed a one-year contract worth $1.3 million with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The deal also includes a $1.5 million club option for the 2026 season, which could increase to $2 million if he earns 20 points. He gets two points for each start and one point for each relief appearance. Waguespack agreed to the contract on Monday.
The 31-year-old first reached the majors with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019, finishing the season with a 5-5 record and a 4.38 ERA. After playing in Japan in 2022 and 2023, he returned to Major League Baseball with the Rays in 2024.
Waguespack made the Rays’ opening day roster but spent a significant portion of the season sidelined due to a shoulder injury. He threw 10 innings with a 5.40 ERA.
