The Texans have opted to retain their kicker. As per multiple reports, Houston has inked Ka’imi Fairbairn to a three-year contract worth $15.9 million. Fairbairn, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent next week, has been a reliable asset for the team.
Fairbairn has showcased remarkable accuracy over the past two seasons. In 2022, he successfully converted 29-of-31 field goals, followed by a stellar performance in 2023, where he made 27-of-28 attempts. Remarkably, his sole miss in 2023 was from beyond the 50-yard mark.
Moreover, Fairbairn maintained consistency in extra point attempts, converting 21-of-22 in 12 games during the 2023 season.
Since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2016, Fairbairn has remained a steadfast presence within the Texans organization. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a solid kicking proficiency, boasting an 87.1 percent success rate in field goals and a 92.4 percent conversion rate in extra points.
