The U.S. women’s Olympic team remains composed despite their recent loss. They fell to the WNBA All-Star team 117-109 on Saturday and are now preparing for the Paris Olympics with a trip to London.
Breanna Stewart noted the similarity to past experiences, recalling their 2021 loss to the same All-Star team before going on to win a seventh consecutive gold medal in Tokyo.
Just like in 2021, the Americans struggled to contain Arike Ogunbowale, who scored all 34 of her points in the second half. Stewart, who led the U.S. with 31 points, emphasized the team’s determination to learn from the defeat without peaking too early.
Their ultimate aim remains to continue their historic Olympic success, having not lost a game since 1992. Stewart highlighted the valuable learning opportunity from the game, given their limited chances to compete.
The team plans to analyze the game film, focusing on areas to improve as they head to London for another exhibition match against Germany before the Olympics in France. They are grouped with Belgium, Japan, and Germany in the upcoming competition.
