The men’s Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz has begun on Centre Court.
This Sunday’s final at the All England Club is a rematch from last year when Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in five sets.
Kate, the Princess of Wales, was present in the Royal Box at Centre Court, making a rare public appearance since her cancer diagnosis.
Djokovic, aged 37, aims to secure his eighth Wimbledon title, matching Roger Federer’s record for the most by a male player at this prestigious grass-court tournament.
A victory for Djokovic would also give him 25 Grand Slam singles titles, the most in tennis history.
Just over a month ago, Djokovic underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in his right knee after sustaining an injury during the French Open.
Alcaraz, aged 21, recently claimed his third major championship by winning the Roland Garros trophy in June. This achievement made him the youngest man to have won a Grand Slam title on grass, clay, and hard courts.
Barbora Krejcikova emerged victorious over Jasmine Paolini in the Wimbledon women’s final on Saturday.
