More than half of the WNBA playoff spots are now filled, with the New York Liberty securing the No. 1 seed on Tuesday night.

The remaining matchups for the postseason will be decided when the regular season ends on Thursday night.

The Liberty defeated the Washington Mystics, which allowed them to have homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs for only the second time in the team’s history.

“It was important for us, one of our goals we set out,” said Liberty coach Sandy Brondello. “We still have to take care of business in the playoffs, but getting home court, we have a great arena and great fans. We want to play in front of our fans as much as we can.”

The Minnesota Lynx earned the No. 2 seed after winning against Connecticut. They are currently the hottest team, winning 13 out of 14 games since the Olympic break. They will face Phoenix in the first round of the playoffs starting Sunday.

The Sun are in third place, holding a one-game lead over Las Vegas, which secured at least the No. 4 seed with a victory over Seattle on Tuesday. The Aces have the tiebreaker against Connecticut.

With their loss, the Storm are guaranteed the fifth seed. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are locked into sixth place and will play away in either Connecticut or Las Vegas for the opening round.

The final playoff spot is still up for grabs. The Atlanta Dream currently hold the eighth position after beating Chicago on Tuesday.

Washington and the Sky are both one game behind the Dream. Atlanta will finish the season against New York on Thursday, Chicago will visit Connecticut, and Washington will host Indiana that night. The Dream need to win or hope both Chicago and Washington lose to advance.

The Mystics must win and have Atlanta lose, while Chicago needs to win and see both Washington and Atlanta lose to make the playoffs.
