Tiger Woods has officially announced his next golfing endeavor, and it’s not the anticipated Players Championship.
The golfing legend will be taking part in the Seminole Golf Club Pro-Member Tournament alongside Seth Waugh, CEO of the PGA of America, scheduled for Monday, March 4th.
This revelation comes as a surprise to many, particularly after the dramatic medical incident witnessed during his recent Genesis Invitational just weeks ago.
Joining Woods in this event are other notable pros such as Ernie Els, who will be paired with Tom Brady, as well as Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick, Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Luke Donald, and Nelly Korda.
Adding to the intrigue is Justin Thomas, who will tee off with Yext CEO Mike Walrath. Woods and Waugh will be among the first to take to the tee at 7:47 a.m. on Monday.
This marks Woods’ debut appearance in this particular tournament, as reported by Brently Romine of the Golf Channel.
His participation is viewed as a positive sign, especially in light of his recent withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational due to illness.
Having expressed his desire to compete in a PGA Tour event each month throughout 2024 and beyond, Woods had initially aimed to kick off his schedule with Riviera in February, followed by The Players in March, The Masters in April, the PGA Championship in May, the U.S. Open in June, and the Open Championship in July.
However, his plans were momentarily thwarted by his withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational.
Golf enthusiasts eagerly await updates on Woods’ potential involvement in the upcoming 2024 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, as the PGA Tour prepares to unveil the field for the 50th edition of one of its most prestigious events.
