Arsenal and Chelsea are facing a staggering £113 million price tag if they aim to secure the services of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to reports from The Standard, both London clubs will need to dig deep into their coffers to meet Napoli’s hefty demands for the Nigerian forward.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea are actively seeking solutions to their scoring dilemmas, with the Blues having signed Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson last summer. However, Nkunku’s battle with injuries and Jackson’s lack of impact have left gaps in their attacking lineup.
On the other hand, Arsenal’s acquisition of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City hasn’t fully addressed their needs, particularly with concerns over Jesus’s fitness and a shortage of quality options on the bench.
Consequently, Mikel Arteta and club executives are eyeing another top striker, with Victor Osimhen emerging as a prime target for their ambitions.
Since joining Napoli in September 2020, Osimhen has amassed an impressive track record, tallying 72 goals and 18 assists in 122 appearances for the Italian club. This season alone, he has notched up 13 goals and provided four assists in 21 outings.
While Osimhen’s on-field contributions justify the high valuation, his susceptibility to injuries adds a layer of caution for potential suitors. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal, Chelsea, or both clubs will be willing to meet Napoli’s demands given the associated risks.
