Tommy DeVito apparently fulfilled an agreement with a pizzeria in New Jersey despite initial complications. Coniglio’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria in Morristown had initially announced the cancellation of DeVito’s appearance on social media, citing a doubling of his appearance fee from $10,000 to $20,000, allegedly communicated by DeVito’s agent after the quarterback’s notable performance in a recent New York Giants game. However, after the story gained attention on social media, DeVito made an impromptu, unpaid appearance at the pizzeria on Tuesday, as reported by sports business journalist Darren Rovell.

DeVito’s agent, Sean Stellato, argued that there was no formal contract in place with the pizzeria and denied any fee increase, stating that “nothing was ever agreed to.” In response, Nino Coniglio, the owner of the pizzeria, countered Stellato’s claim, asserting that they had agreed in principle to terms, including a two-hour appearance, 250 autographs, and a $10,000 fee. Coniglio stated that the agent informed them after Monday’s game that the price had risen to $20,000.

Despite the initial dispute, the situation was resolved amicably, with Coniglio sharing a photo on Instagram of DeVito and himself enjoying a slice together.

Tommy DeVito and Sean Stellato have gained increased attention due to DeVito’s unexpected success as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants. DeVito, initially on the practice squad, played a pivotal role in the Giants’ three-game winning streak, notably securing a victory against the Packers with a game-winning drive on December 11. DeVito’s Italian heritage has become a celebrated aspect of his persona, marked by a distinctive hand gesture that has been embraced by teammates and fans alike.

The Giants’ winning streak came to an end with a lopsided loss to the New Orleans Saints, who mocked DeVito’s hand gesture after sacking him. Despite this setback, DeVito is set to continue as the starting quarterback when the Giants face the rival Eagles on Christmas Day, maintaining his role despite the team’s 5-9 record.
