Infielder/outfielder Tony Kemp has agreed to a one-year contract worth $1 million with the Baltimore Orioles. This comes after the 32-year-old was let go from a minor league agreement with the Cincinnati Reds last week.

During spring training, Kemp showed promise by hitting 7 out of 21, including one home run and five RBIs in eight games.

Last season with Oakland, he had a batting average of .209 with five home runs, 27 RBIs, and a career-best 15 stolen bases in 124 games. Kemp also drew 44 walks and scored 42 runs.

Throughout his eight-year career with Houston, the Chicago Cubs, and the Athletics, Kemp has maintained a .238 batting average with 35 home runs and 184 RBIs.

If Kemp had been added to the 40-man roster, his contract with the Reds would have seen him earning $1.75 million. To make room for Kemp, the Orioles designated infielder/outfielder Nick Maton for assignment.
