ESPN, Disney Advertising, and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions have collaborated to produce a new docuseries titled “Full Court Press,” featuring top women’s basketball players such as Caitlin Clark, Kiki Rice, and Kamilla Cardoso.
Set to air on ABC and ESPN+ starting this weekend, the series follows these players during the 2023-24 women’s college basketball season, focusing on their pursuit of a national championship. Manning likened the series to his successful Quarterback docuseries on Netflix and expressed his enthusiasm for delving into the world of women’s basketball.
The storyline of “Full Court Press” revolves around the experiences of Clark, Rice, and Cardoso during the NCAA tournament, where their respective teams—the Iowa Hawkeyes, UCLA Bruins, and South Carolina Gamecocks—were top contenders.
Viewers will witness the highs and lows of their journeys, from intense matchups to heartbreaking upsets. Notably, the series captures the end of the collegiate careers of Clark and Cardoso, adding emotional depth to their narratives.
Clark and Cardoso, two standout players, faced off in the national championship game last season, with Cardoso’s Gamecocks emerging victorious to complete an undefeated season. However, Rice’s Bruins suffered an upset to LSU in the Sweet 16 despite being a No. 2 seed. While Rice is returning to UCLA for the 2024-25 season, “Full Court Press” provides a retrospective look at the culmination of Clark and Cardoso’s college careers.
Following the NCAA tournament, Clark was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA draft, while Cardoso was taken third overall by the Chicago Sky. The docuseries not only documents their journey through the draft process but also aims to highlight women’s sports as a whole and inspire young girls to pursue basketball dreams through the “Inner Baller” ad campaign.
“Full Court Press” will consist of four episodes, offering unprecedented access to Clark, Cardoso, and Rice, and will be available for streaming on Hulu from May 14 to June 12, in addition to airing on ABC and ESPN+. With its focus on showcasing the talent and determination of women’s basketball players, the series promises to be both entertaining and empowering for audiences of all ages.
