Baker Mayfield throws three touchdown passes as the Buccaneers claim the top spot in the NFC South with a 28-13 victory over the Raiders

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are back above .500 and are aiming for their fourth straight NFC South title. They hope to continue their success with a three-game winning streak that has brought them to the top of the division after a tough stretch where they lost five out of six games.

“It’s one thing getting to first place. It’s a whole other thing staying there,” said coach Todd Bowles after a 28-13 win over the struggling Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. “We’ve got four games left. It’s going to be a battle all the way through. We have to come ready every week.”

Baker Mayfield threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Buccaneers to their third straight win against a last-place team, putting them ahead of the fading Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South. The Falcons, who hold a tiebreaker advantage over the Bucs after sweeping their season series, have now lost four games in a row.

“It doesn’t have to be pretty. Obviously, there are a lot of things that I would personally like to have back, but it’s a resilient group. We play for each other,” Mayfield said. “Guys step up when other people go down and that’s what football is all about. It teaches you life lessons.”

Aidan O’Connell passes the ball in the 1st half

Mayfield threw touchdown passes of 15 yards and 29 yards to rookie Jalen McMillan. Rachaad White also scored on a 5-yard reception and a 3-yard run. The Buccaneers pulled away in the second half after Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell left the game with a knee injury that coach Antonio Pierce described as serious. O’Connell was carted off the field after being knocked to the ground by Buccaneers defensive lineman Calijah Kancey late in the third quarter.

O’Connell had just completed an 8-yard pass to Jakobi Meyers when Kancey chased him out of the pocket and shoved him from behind. Kancey was not penalized for a late hit.

“Prayers to him. I pray for a speedy recovery,” Kancey said. “I hope everything’s good on their end. I definitely took a knee and prayed for him.”

White rushed for 90 yards on 17 carries, including a touchdown run in the fourth quarter that put Tampa Bay up 21-10. McMillan’s second touchdown, following an 80-yard drive, made the game out of reach after the Raiders managed a field goal to make it 21-13 with three minutes left.

The Raiders, now on a nine-game losing streak, have the most losses in the NFL.

“I appreciate the effort, the grit, the fight,” Pierce said. “Listen, it’s tough. And these guys, they’re not flinching or blinking. They still believe. … All of those guys are fighting until the very end. Proud of the effort.”

Jalen McMillan runs into the endzone in 2nd half

Mayfield had a rough first half, turning the ball over three times, which allowed the Raiders to stay close. O’Connell fumbled one play after Mayfield threw his first interception. However, a few plays later, Raiders linebacker Amari Burney sacked Mayfield and forced another fumble, which led to a 1-yard touchdown run by O’Connell, cutting the Bucs’ lead to 14-7.

The fumble recovery by Tre’von Moehrig was the first of the season for the Raiders’ defense. Jack Jones also intercepted Mayfield in the end zone, denying him a chance to extend the lead before halftime.

Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, who came into the game leading the NFL in receptions with 84, had three catches for 49 yards and broke the record for receptions in a season by a rookie tight end. Sam LaPorta had 86 catches for the Detroit Lions in 2023.

“It’s cool, but it would be cooler with some more wins,” Bowers said.

“He’s having a great individual year,” Pierce added. “I wish it could lead to more success for our team.”

Darnold shines for the Vikings, throwing for a career-best 347 yards and 5 touchdowns to lead them to a 42-21 victory over the Falcons

Sam Darnold momentarily broke his calm attitude after seeing himself on the big screen, enthusiastically twirling a towel to energize the crowd after the Minnesota Vikings pulled ahead of Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons late in the game.

“I just felt the buzz. That was pure passion, pure joy, man,” Darnold said.

Darnold added another big performance to his strong first season with the Vikings, passing for a career-high 347 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-21 victory over the struggling Falcons. This win extended the Vikings’ winning streak to six games.

“It just felt like it was one of those days to keep the gas pedal down,” said coach Kevin O’Connell, enjoying his team’s first 40-point game in his three years as head coach.

Darnold threw for 250 yards in the second half to help the Vikings (11-2) break a 21-all tie early in the fourth quarter and stay just one game behind Detroit in the NFC North with a crucial matchup against the Lions approaching.

Jordan Addison caught eight passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns, while Justin Jefferson had seven receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns after a six-game scoring drought.

Jordan Addison scores in the 1st half

“This is something that we want to do and we can do every single week,” Jefferson said.

Kirk Cousins, who left the Vikings to join the Falcons, threw two more interceptions without a touchdown in a tough return to Minnesota, following a mixed six-year run with the team.

The Falcons (6-7), booed as they took the field, suffered a fourth consecutive loss. This dropped them from first place in the NFC South, putting them one game behind Tampa Bay.

“When you’re playing well, you usually aren’t as good as people are telling you when they’re patting you on the back, and if you’re in a rut you’re usually not as bad as people kind of leaving you for dead,” Cousins said. “The reality’s usually somewhere in the middle. You just have to keep playing and see where the dust settles in January.”

Cousins finished 23 for 37 for 344 yards for the Falcons, who crossed midfield on all nine of their possessions and ended with 496 total yards. However, he overthrew Ray-Ray McCloud III on fourth down in the first quarter, and the Falcons had to settle for short field goals right before and after halftime.

The Falcons’ fate was sealed when McCloud fumbled the kickoff at the 32-yard line after the Vikings went 70 yards in six plays to score a touchdown, followed by another touchdown pass to Addison seven plays later.

The Falcons also handed the Vikings an easy touchdown when Kentavious Street was called for defensive holding during a field-goal attempt late in the second quarter, giving Darnold a new set of downs and leading to a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jefferson on third-and-6.

Kirk Cousins throws a pass in the 1st half

“You just can’t have the self-inflicted wounds and expect to win football games like we had today,” said Falcons coach Raheem Morris.

Bijan Robinson had 22 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown, and Tyler Allgeier added nine carries for 63 yards and a touchdown for the Falcons against the NFL’s best run defense.

Cousins, who threw four interceptions last week, made another mistake early in the second quarter in a tie game. He hesitated and then threw a pass straight to Josh Metellus, who was in position to make the interception. This brought Cousins’ total to a league-high 15 interceptions for the season.

Byron Murphy grabbed a second interception near the goal line with the Vikings leading 35-21 and 6:26 left. Darnold, who completed 22 of 28 passes without any mistakes despite facing pressure in the first half, then led a seven-play, 98-yard drive to seal the game.

“I think we grew up a lot today offensively,” O’Connell said.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins struggles continue as the Vikings ruin his return home with 2 interceptions

When Kirk Cousins’ final pass of the game flew over the head of tight end Kyle Pitts and ended up in the back of the end zone, all he could do was shake his head and slowly walk off the field.

Not only were his Atlanta Falcons struggling, but his return to Minneapolis was also spoiled.

Cousins returned to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, the team he played for the previous six seasons. However, instead of impressing his old fans, he continued a career-worst streak as Minnesota intercepted him twice and prevented him from throwing any touchdown passes in a 42-21 win.

This was the Falcons’ fourth consecutive loss, dropping them out of a first-place tie with Tampa Bay in the NFC South.

During this stretch, Cousins has thrown eight interceptions and no touchdown passes. According to Sportradar, he’s the sixth quarterback in the past 20 seasons to have a streak of four straight games with at least one interception and no touchdown passes.

Others with similar streaks include Trace McSorley (2022), Curtis Painter (2011), Ken Dorsey (2008), Brett Favre (2005), and Alex Smith (2005).

“I’d love to be playing with a lot more production,” Cousins said, staying on the field to greet his former teammates and coaches after the game. “It’s been disappointing the last four weeks to not have a touchdown pass. I’d like that to be different.”

Though the game wasn’t a complete disaster for Cousins, he completed 23 of 37 passes for 344 yards, his second-highest yard total of the season. However, he threw two interceptions. The first came with the game tied 7-7 late in the first quarter, when safety Josh Metellus intercepted a short pass near midfield.

The second interception came when the Falcons were trying to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, down by 14 points. Cousins overthrew a pass that cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. caught with one hand near the goal line.

“Certainly the first turnover is one that I can correct. I can throw it away. … I don’t need to force the ball into that window,” Cousins said. “The second one was tough. I would’ve liked to have put the ball more on the inside. They brought a lot of pressure and I thought Byron Murphy made a good play.”

With calls for rookie first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. to start growing louder, Falcons coach Raheem Morris said he has no plans to bench Cousins.

“Everything is always discussed when you go watch the tape and do those type of things,” Morris said. “But Kirk Cousins is our quarterback. … We’ll do whatever is best to go win football games and Kirk is definitely a part of that.”

Cousins allowed himself a light-hearted moment after hearing that Morris said he thought his quarterback played better than he did the previous week when he tied a career high with four interceptions in a 17-13 loss to the Chargers.

“Last week was a low bar,” Cousins said with a laugh. “But I felt better today. I felt more like myself.”

He also said he wasn’t surprised by the loud boos that he and his teammates heard when they came out of the tunnel before the game.

“It’s a great fan base and I expected them to make it hostile, and they did a good job of that,” Cousins said.

Now that his return to Minnesota is behind him, Cousins and the Falcons can focus on the remaining games, starting with a trip to Las Vegas next week and another homecoming game for Cousins at Washington on December 29.

“It’s never easy,” Cousins said. “In pro football, you get tested, and we’re there right now. But win or lose, you have to apply the same processes each week and get better. Whether you win or lose, you’ve got to find a way to continuously improve.”

Falcons quarterback Cousins aims to steer clear of interceptions and deliver a strong performance in his return to Minnesota

This wasn’t the kind of homecoming Kirk Cousins had hoped for.

Cousins, returning to Minnesota where he played from 2018 to 2023, is facing questions about his job security in Atlanta. The Falcons are on a three-game losing streak, and Cousins has thrown six interceptions with no touchdowns during this stretch. Last week, he threw four picks in a 17-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, his worst performance in a decade.

“It’s kind of the challenge always in pro football to be able to get back up off the mat and get back going,” Cousins said after Wednesday’s practice.

Despite a vote of confidence from coach Raheem Morris, there is still talk about giving rookie first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. a chance to help turn around the Falcons’ offense. Morris said on Sunday he never thought about pulling Cousins from the game and repeated his support for the veteran on Wednesday.

Raheem Morris paces on the sideline in the 1st half

“Got to go to Minnesota and get a big-time win and Kirk’s ready to go,” Morris said, also admitting that Cousins needs to bounce back from “obviously a tough game.”

“You know, realistically, man he is built for this and he’s ready to go,” Morris said.

The Falcons (6-6) are struggling to stay on top of the weak NFC South division. They currently hold the tiebreaker advantage over Tampa Bay (6-6), but they need Cousins to end his turnover streak.

Cousins, 36, was expected to be a dependable leader for the offense after signing a four-year, $180 million contract. Now, he is under pressure for all the wrong reasons. He said he expects the Minnesota fans to give him a loud reception.

“They’re great fans, great football fans,” Cousins said. “As a result, I think they’ll make it as hostile as they can for us.”

Cousins ranks fifth in the league with 3,052 passing yards. He has 17 touchdown passes, and his 13 interceptions are just one short of his career high.

Cousins insists he feels good physically after recovering from last season’s torn Achilles tendon. He admitted that he made mental mistakes in the loss to the Chargers, rushing some passes and sometimes failing to put enough force on his throws, which allowed defensive backs to intercept the ball.

Atlanta’s offensive coordinator Zac Robinson also noted that Cousins’ lack of velocity on his throws “just goes back to, you know, decisiveness, being decisive when you do cut it loose. Certainly those things happen with quarterbacks. There might be times where, you know, you’re not as convicted on a throw. And it shows by the way the football comes out.”

Morris said he still believes in Cousins’ arm and his mental approach to the game.

“He’s done a great job with us, and I have no real qualms about him bouncing back and him being able to play the game the way it needs to be done,” Morris said. “He’s still an elite processor. He has the ability to make all the throws. He’s shown that throughout the year.”

Kirk Cousins walks off the field after the game

Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores also said he expects Cousins to recover from his slump.

“I know the narrative is he had a tough game last week, but he’s played some good football,” Flores said. “I think the people in this building know what Kirk can do. He’s a very, very good quarterback.”

Flores added, “He’s a bounce-back type of guy, as we all know. I’m expecting his best, the best version of Kirk, the best version of that offense. It’s going to be a major challenge for us.”

Atlanta’s offensive output has dropped while Cousins’ turnovers have increased. The Falcons have been held to fewer than 20 points in each of their last three losses.

“Have to just believe that tough times don’t last, tough people do,” Cousins said. “You have to keep pushing.”

Still records two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, as the Chargers hand the Falcons their third consecutive defeat, 17-13

In a game where neither team seemed eager to win, the Los Angeles Chargers used their defense, especially rookie cornerback Tarheeb Still, to hand Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons their third straight loss.

Still returned an interception 61 yards for a touchdown, his second pick of the game and one of four interceptions thrown by Cousins. The Chargers (8-4) had several issues, including allowing five sacks to a team that had the fewest in the NFL. They also fumbled in their own territory, which led to Atlanta’s only touchdown. There was also a failed fake punt and a mostly ineffective offense that only managed two first downs in the second half.

Los Angeles coach Jim Harbaugh was happy with the result.

“It’s a beautiful thing,” he said. “We’re witnessing complementary, winning football.”

Tarheeb Still returns an interception for a touchdown in the 2nd half

Still, a fifth-round pick from Maryland, made Cousins look like a rookie late in the third quarter, when the Falcons faced a fourth-and-5 at the Los Angeles 40-yard line. Still read the play perfectly, stepping in front of Darnell Mooney and sprinting down the sideline for a touchdown that put the Chargers ahead for good.

Still now has three interceptions in his first season as a pro.

“The thing that impresses me the most is how locked in he is for a young player,” Harbaugh said. “I mean, they can get a little drift in their preparation as the season goes on. But he has been locked in.”

Still had another interception on the first play of the second quarter, signaling more trouble for Cousins in what was a poor performance. This could raise questions about whether the Falcons should consider turning to their first-round pick, Michael Penix Jr.

Falcons coach Raheem Morris made it clear that a quarterback change is not being considered.

“We’ve got no issues with that man,” he said of Cousins. “I don’t think that’s gonna be the issue around here. That guy’s carried us. That guy’s got us to the point. We’re 6-6 and first place in the division. We’ve still got everything in front of us.”

Atlanta’s last two possessions ended with Cousins’ interceptions when a touchdown could have tied the game. It was only the second four-pick game of his career. The first came when he was with Washington in 2014.

One of the interceptions came on a bad throw in the back of the end zone, which was grabbed by Marcus Maye, who had just joined the Chargers. Cousins put both hands to his helmet in disbelief.

In the Falcons’ final drive, Cousins threw a pass over the middle that was picked off by Derwin James Jr. with 40 seconds left at the Los Angeles 24-yard line.

“I’ve got to play better,” Cousins said. “I’m so disappointed right now. It hurts. I feel like that was a game we had a chance to win if I played at the standard I expect to.”

Kirk Cousins looks to pass in the 1st half

Despite nearly doubling the Chargers in total yards (350 to 187), Atlanta couldn’t win. Justin Herbert threw for only 147 yards, and the Chargers were held to just 56 rushing yards without their top running back, J.K. Dobbins.

The only points from the Los Angeles offense came from three field goals by Cameron Dicker.

“Obviously not the way that we want to play,” Herbert said. “We won because of the defense today. We’ve got to do a better job as an offense.”

Cousins finished 24 of 39 for 245 yards. Younghoe Koo kicked two field goals but also missed a 35-yard attempt after dealing with hip issues during the week.

Falcons’ Morris continues to support struggling QB Cousins despite his 4-interception performance in loss to Chargers

Atlanta Falcons coach Raheem Morris has made it clear that Kirk Cousins’ struggles with interceptions won’t lead him to consider a quarterback change against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Cousins has enough experience to know he needs to play better or risk losing his coach’s support, especially with rookie first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. waiting for his shot.

Cousins threw four interceptions, tying his career high, including one with 40 seconds left in the Falcons’ 17-13 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. Three of his interceptions came in the second half, with one being returned 61 yards for a touchdown by rookie Tarheeb Still in the third quarter.

“There’s no entitlement in the NFL,” Cousins said when asked about his job security. “You just have to go earn it… I need to play at a level that, you know, justifies being out there.”

Kirk Cousins looks to pass in the 1st half

Still had two interceptions, and safety Marcus Maye also picked off a pass after being claimed by the Chargers off waivers on Wednesday.

The four interceptions were the most for Cousins since 2014, his third season in the NFL with Washington. This added to a troubling trend for Atlanta, where the offense has struggled while Cousins’ turnovers have been increasing.

In the last three games, all losses, Cousins has thrown six interceptions and no touchdowns. The Falcons have scored fewer than 20 points in each of those losses.

Morris will likely face more questions about Penix as the Falcons (6-6) prepare for next weekend’s game at Minnesota.

“We’ve got no issues with him,” Morris said of Cousins. “I don’t think that’s going to be the issue around here. You know, that guy’s carried us.”

Morris pointed out that the Falcons are still in first place in the NFC South and have “still got everything in front of us.”

Even in the weaker NFC South, the Falcons must end their three-game losing streak to keep their hopes of a playoff spot alive for the first time since 2017.

“It’s up to us to bounce back and find a way to win football games, and there’s no better man than 18 to go do that for us,” Morris said, referring to Cousins.

The Falcons made a big investment in Cousins before committing to Penix as the potential starter for the future. Cousins, 36, signed a four-year, $180 million contract and was praised as he helped Atlanta reach the top of the division at 6-3.

Kirk Cousins looks to pass in the 2nd half

However, the Falcons and Cousins haven’t kept that momentum, and he is now preparing to return to his previous NFL team, Minnesota. A common issue in his interceptions against the Chargers was the defense anticipating his passes, with defensive backs stepping in front of possible targets to make interceptions.

Cousins completed 24 of 39 passes for 245 yards. The Chargers managed 10 passes defensed, showing their success in disrupting his passes, even when they didn’t intercept the ball.

“Obviously disappointing outcome,” Cousins said. “Disappointing play. You know, I look to myself and say, I’ve got to play better… You feel like that was a game we had a chance to win if I play at the standard I expect to play at.”

Touchdown Turmoil: Saints’ Unplanned Score Sparks Controversy in Victory Over Falcons

In the closing minutes of their 48-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, some New Orleans Saints players deviated from the planned play call, opting for an unexpected touchdown instead of kneeling to run out the clock. Following safety Tyrann Mathieu’s interception return to the Falcons’ 1-yard line, Saints coach Dennis Allen and offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael intended to take a knee and let the clock expire.

However, backup quarterback Jameis Winston was sent in to take the final snap in victory formation, only for the team to surprise everyone by running Jamaal Williams up the middle for a 1-yard score. Falcons coach Arthur Smith confronted Allen after the game, expressing his displeasure. The heated exchange between the coaches continued, with no postgame handshake.

Allen publicly apologized to Smith and the Falcons in his postgame news conference, clarifying that the players made the decision to score contrary to the coaches’ intentions. Smith, while acknowledging the absence of rules against such a move, voiced his frustration and emphasized his prerogative to express his feelings.

Several Saints players had wanted Williams or tight end Jimmy Graham to score, attempting to persuade Allen to allow it. Allen initially preferred taking a knee but was overruled by the players on the field. Despite the controversy, Winston defended the team’s decision, asserting that it was a collective choice made for the benefit of a teammate.

Reflecting on the incident, Williams expressed gratitude for his teammates’ support and acknowledged the significance of their gesture. Winston, addressing potential regrets, emphasized the team’s unity and apologized to Allen for the deviation from the original plan.

While the move sparked controversy, Winston suggested it should be forgotten, especially considering the significant lead the Saints held. Despite the disagreement and tensions, players on both sides acknowledged the unique character and camaraderie within the Saints’ team.

Atlanta Falcons Face Uphill Battle Without Top Receiver Drake London Due to Groin Injury

The Atlanta Falcons are set to face a significant challenge on Sunday, as they will be without their top receiver, Drake London, due to a groin injury. London, the team’s first-round pick in 2022, has been a pivotal figure in the Falcons’ offense, leading the team in targets, receptions, and yards and sharing the lead in receiving touchdowns with Bijan Robinson.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 213 pounds, London has consistently been a favorite target, with at least six targets in his past seven games and an impressive streak of at least five catches and over 50 yards receiving in his last four games. However, the Falcons will have to navigate this game without him.

Adding to the challenge, the Falcons are also making a quarterback switch from Desmond Ridder to Taylor Heinicke this week. It’s worth noting that it was Heinicke who threw the pass, resulting in London’s groin injury during the previous game against Tennessee. Despite London initially downplaying the severity of his injury, he did not practice throughout the week. Falcons coach Arthur Smith remains uncertain about when London will return but mentioned that the injury might not be as severe as initially feared.

With London sidelined, the Falcons will explore alternative options. They could turn to other wide receivers like Mack Hollins, KhaDarel Hodge, and newly acquired Van Jefferson, or they might consider shifting tight end Kyle Pitts to cover some of London’s routes.

Heinicke expressed confidence in his connection with Hodge and Hollins, citing their previous practice reps together, which proved beneficial in their recent game against Tennessee. However, the absence of London is undeniably a setback, though the fact that Heinicke was able to work with the potential replacements during the week, despite London’s absence, offers a glimmer of hope.

“It’s unfortunate,” Heinicke acknowledged. “Obviously, he’s a great player. But you saw what Red [Hodge] and Scotty stepped up, Van stepped up. So, I have a lot of confidence in those guys. Again, it’s unfortunate he’s not playing, but I have all the confidence in the world in those other guys.”

In addition to London, the Falcons will also be missing safety DeMarcco Hellams due to a hamstring injury and fullback Keith Smith, who is in concussion protocol.

Taylor Heinicke Takes the Helm as Atlanta Falcons’ Starting Quarterback for Week 9

The Atlanta Falcons are making a temporary change in their starting quarterback position. Head coach Arthur Smith announced that Taylor Heinicke will step in as the starting quarterback for the Falcons in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings, with Desmond Ridder serving as the backup.

Smith explained his decision, saying, “For this week only, given recent developments over the past 72 hours and our assessment of what’s best for this week’s matchup against Minnesota, Taylor will take the reins as our starting quarterback.”

Heinicke, who was initially signed as a backup for Ridder during the offseason, is poised to make his first start for the Falcons. This alteration in the starting lineup carries significance, as it designates Heinicke as the fourth starting quarterback during Smith’s tenure as the head coach of the Falcons.

Taylor Heinicke

Even though Ridder had a turnover problem and the team was only 28th in the league in points scored, Smith had been hesitant to make this move. Heinicke did see play, though, in the second half of the previous game against the Tennessee Titans. After being evaluated for a concussion, Ridder was initially cleared to return, but he did not rejoin the team. Smith was clear in saying that Ridder’s absence had nothing to do with his performance. The choice to start a quarterback was deferred until Wednesday due to this unforeseen event.

It’s interesting that Smith started Heinicke today because he was hesitant to start Ridder over Marcus Mariota, who struggled in his first season as the starting quarterback the previous year.

Even though they are leading the NFC South, the 4-4 Falcons have been struggling offensively—something that is uncommon for a top-seeded team to do when they trade quarterbacks midway through the season. Ridder hasn’t played well lately, averaging 212.6 yards per game with six touchdowns and six interceptions. Considering that he hasn’t thrown a touchdown since Week 6, this performance is a far cry from the promise he displayed at the conclusion of his debut campaign in 2022.

On the other hand, Heinicke has experience filling in at quarterback for the Washington Commanders in previous seasons, and he did a good job when called upon to do so.

Nevertheless, his inconsistent play has prevented him from becoming a consistent starter at quarterback. Heinicke has started 34 games in his six seasons in the NFL, posting a 12-12-1 starting record. His stellar numbers are a 5,920 yard completion percentage of 63.7%, 35 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions.

Heinicke’s Falcons debut will come against the Minnesota Vikings, who are also switching quarterbacks after Kirk Cousins’ season-ending injury. With a 4-4 record, both teams are poised for an exciting game. It is likely that Heinicke will take on a young Jaren Hall in a matchup that wasn’t anticipated at the beginning of the season.
