Dobes, Caufield, and Laine Lead Canadiens’ Fifth Straight Win Over Slumping Predators

The Montreal Canadiens rallied from a first-period deficit to defeat the Nashville Predators 2-1 on Sunday night. Goals from Cole Caufield and Patrik Laine in the second period fueled the comeback, pushing the Canadiens to their fifth straight victory after enduring a five-game losing streak. Nashville, meanwhile, continued its downward spiral with a sixth consecutive loss and seven defeats in its last eight games.

Dobes Shines with 36 Saves as Canadiens Overcome Early Deficit to Beat Predators

Jakub Dobes was instrumental in Montreal’s win, making 36 saves and weathering Nashville’s offensive push, particularly during the power plays. Despite being outshot 37-17, the Canadiens held firm, with Dobes delivering a composed performance in net. The Predators had four opportunities on the power play but were unable to capitalize, continuing a troubling trend of missed chances.

Nashville struck first early in the game, with Steven Stamkos netting his 25th goal of the season off a Filip Forsberg assist just over four minutes into the opening period. However, Montreal responded quickly in the second, with Caufield scoring his 36th of the season off a setup by Nick Suzuki. Laine followed shortly after with his 20th of the year, flipping the momentum and giving the Canadiens a lead they would hold for the remainder of the game.

Wood Debuts, Hutson Ties Record in Canadiens’ Crucial Win Over Struggling Predators

Sunday’s game also featured the NHL debut of Nashville winger Matthew Wood, the 15th overall pick in the 2023 draft. Wood played just over 13 minutes and recorded one shot on goal. On Montreal’s side, Lane Hutson’s assist on Laine’s goal gave him 58 assists and 64 total points on the season, tying a franchise record for points by a rookie defenseman previously held by Chris Chelios.

The win bolstered Montreal’s hold on the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, with a five-point cushion over the chasing Rangers and Red Wings. The Canadiens are now within striking distance of Ottawa.

Nashville, on the other hand, continues to struggle as goaltender Juuse Saros suffered his third consecutive loss. Despite dominating the shot count and second-period possession, the Predators’ inability to convert on their chances remains a key issue in their slump.

Predators and Sabres aim to climb out of conference basements in Nashville matchup

The Buffalo Sabres continue to struggle with consistency, a challenge that the Nashville Predators can relate to as well.

Both teams, sitting near the bottom of their conferences, will meet in Buffalo on Friday night. They each have 43 points, with Buffalo in last place in the Eastern Conference and Nashville near the bottom in the Western Conference.

Since an early losing streak, Buffalo has a record of 8-7-1 but has only managed back-to-back wins twice. However, they broke through on Tuesday with a dominant 7-2 victory at home against Boston.

“We’ve said through all of these (games), even in a lot of the disappointments, we’re in this thing together,” said Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff.

Tage Thompson and JJ Peterka each scored a hat trick and added an assist in the win. Buffalo matched its season-high goal total after struggling to score in recent games. Thompson has nine goals and 10 assists in his last 16 games, while Peterka has four goals and nine assists in 12 games this month.

“It’s starting to open up a little bit,” Thompson said. “And when you get stuff rolling like (Tuesday), you’ve got to just ride that wave and keep firing pucks at the net and get to the net. When you do that, good things happen.”

Despite the win, Buffalo hasn’t had much success against Nashville lately, losing the last three meetings, including two at home. Nashville, meanwhile, has lost two straight after a season-high five-game win streak.

Nashville Predators (NHL)

This season, Nashville has struggled with consistency, losing at least two consecutive games in regulation six times. They have only won two or more straight games four times.

After scoring 27 goals during their five-game win streak, Nashville has scored just three goals in their last two games. In a 3-1 loss to Vancouver on Wednesday, they posted 32 shots on goal but only managed a single first-period goal.

“We’ve been creating a lot of offense, so it’s looking up for us right now creating-wise,” said Tommy Novak, who has seven points in his last five games. “(Wednesday night) stings to not close that one out and get the lead.”

Despite the recent struggles, the Predators remain optimistic for their upcoming road games against Buffalo and Pittsburgh.

“There’s great energy,” said Nashville head coach Andrew Brunette. “There’s great effort. Just, this league is hard.”

Predators’ star goalie Juuse Saros stopped 19 of 21 shots against Vancouver but has allowed 11 goals in his last three starts. Backup Justus Annunen has been strong, going 3-0-0 in January despite a 3.00 goals-against average.

Filip Forsberg’s 10-game point streak ended Wednesday. Forsberg had nine goals and 10 assists during that stretch.

Buffalo’s Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has been solid in net recently, with a 2.35 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage in his last three starts. Backup James Reimer has only one win in eight starts since joining the team but has been solid in January, stopping 61 of 67 shots.

Juuse Saros recorded 27 saves as the Nashville Predators defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-0 in Vancouver

Juuse Saros made 27 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season, leading the Nashville Predators to a 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.

Steven Stamkos scored the first goal of the game, while Gustav Nyquist and Colton Sissons each had one goal and one assist for the Predators, who ended a three-game losing streak.

Saros recorded his 27th career shutout as the Predators, who had struggled, finally got a win in their fourth game of a six-game road trip.

Kevin Lankinen took over as the goalie for Vancouver after their top goalie, Thatcher Demko, was out due to back spasms. Lankinen stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced.

Vancouver, missing several key players including top scorer Quinn Hughes, important forward Elias Pettersson, and defenseman Filip Hronek due to injuries, has only won two of their last eight games (2-3-3).

The game was an exciting battle between the goalies, and Stamkos broke the tie at 16:53 of the second period, scoring on a one-timer from the left faceoff dot off a pass from Jonathan Marchessault. Stamkos now has 19 goals in 22 career games against the Canucks.

St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks

Nyquist, who had been denied on a breakaway earlier, sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 1:44 remaining, marking his first goal in 19 games.

Sissons added another empty-net goal in the last minute to make it 3-0.

Saros played excellently from the start, stopping a breakaway by J.T. Miller in the first period and making a key save on Pius Suter’s shot in the third period.

The Canucks nearly scored early in the second period, but Teddy Blueger’s goal was disallowed due to goalie interference.

Vancouver, which couldn’t score on any of its three power-play chances, has a weak 7-8-6 home record, with only two wins in their last six home games (2-2-2).

Nashville Predators End Losing Streak with 3-0 Win Against Canucks in Vancouver

After a tough start to their season, the Nashville Predators are undefeated in 2025.

While they’ve only played one game — a 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Friday at Rogers Arena — the Predators ended a three-game losing streak and secured their fourth road win of the season to start the new year.

“We made it harder on ourselves, but I liked our third period,” said coach Andrew Brunette after the game. “There was a commitment to closing out the game and we haven’t done that a whole lot.”

After Steven Stamkos scored the first goal with 3:07 left in the second period, the Predators (12-20-7, 31 points) kept up their defense to support Juuse Saros’ 27 saves. The Canucks (18-12-8, 44 points) only managed eight shots on Saros in the third period. Colton Sissons and Gustav Nyquist then added empty net goals to seal the win.

“I feel like the desperation and urgency was there,” Saros said. “Maybe not the prettiest at times, but the effort was there for sure.”

Zachary L’Heureux – Nashville Predators

Saros’ early save on a J.T. Miller breakaway sparks defense
Just over three minutes into the game, Saros made a save on a breakaway attempt by Canucks forward J.T. Miller. A poorly timed offensive pinch by defenseman Justin Barron allowed Miller to get through, but Saros stayed strong, deflecting Miller’s shot to the corner with his blocker.

“I saw it was going to happen, I was trying to yell for (a defenseman),” Saros explained. “But I was able to get ready for it pretty early, so I just tried to challenge him as much as I could and stay patient.”

According to Natural Stat Trick, the Canucks only had nine high-danger chances and created 1.86 expected goals during 5-on-5 play — the lowest the Predators have allowed since a 5-2 win over the Hurricanes on Dec. 23.

The Predators held the Canucks — who played without captain Quinn Hughes and forward Elias Pettersson — to just 17 shots during 5-on-5 play.

Another strong point for Nashville was its penalty kill. After allowing three power play goals to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, the Predators went 3-for-3 against Vancouver, including a key late stop in the third period when Luke Evangelista was called for high sticking.

“The penalty kill came in huge at the end and didn’t give them much on those power plays,” Saros said.

Short-handed Canucks to face struggling Predators in Vancouver

The Vancouver Canucks may have to play without their starting goaltender Thatcher Demko again when they face the Nashville Predators on Friday night.

The Canucks hope Kevin Lankinen can step up once more. Demko, who missed the first 26 games of the season with a lower-body injury, left Thursday’s game against the Seattle Kraken in the second period due to back spasms.

“I don’t think it’s serious,” said coach Rick Tocchet. “You know the way back spasms are — it could be a day or two, I’m not sure.”

Lankinen, who helped the Canucks win 4-3 in a shootout against the Kraken, is expected to start against the Predators. Lankinen played for Nashville for two seasons before joining Vancouver as a free agent.

Though the Canucks allowed a 3-1 lead to slip away before winning in overtime, Lankinen stepped up, saving 13 of 15 shots during overtime and stopping every shot in the shootout.

“It’s a good challenge,” said Lankinen. “That’s why you prepare all day, prepare all year, prepare all summer, because you never know what’s going to happen. All the guys helped, and it’s a huge win.”

The Canucks have won only two of their last seven games (2-2-3) and are also missing top scorer Quinn Hughes, forward Elias Pettersson, and key defenseman Filip Hronek due to injuries. Playing a second game in two nights will be a challenge.

“We just have to play with energy,” said forward Conor Garland. “We have a mature group here. There are no excuses.”

The Predators are on a three-game losing streak, with their latest loss being 5-3 to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.

Quinn Hughes
Quinn Hughes – Vancouver Canucks

“I thought we played more than well enough, deserved to win,” said Nashville coach Andrew Brunette. “I thought we had the ice tilted most of the game, gave up three power-play goals, (but we were) in the box way too much, especially on a night when the kill wasn’t as good as it has been.”

Nashville’s penalty problems hurt them in that game, with the Wild scoring their second power-play goal late in the second period, making it difficult for the Predators to recover.

“We wasted another good effort with just parading to the penalty box,” said Nashville forward Colton Sissons. “We’re putting the kill under duress — not to say it’s just the volume that’s the issue. … Our 5-on-5 game, it’s been pretty solid for a couple weeks, and we’re just killing ourselves. It’s frustrating.”

The Predators are near the bottom of the standings, only ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks. Their road record, 3-13-4, isn’t helping either, with three games left on this trip.

Following the suspension of forward Zachary L’Heureux for slew-footing Minnesota’s Jared Spurgeon, Nashville called up forward Ozzy Wiesblatt — the 2020 first-round pick of the San Jose Sharks, acquired in a trade — and defenseman Spencer Stastney from the minors.

Defenseman Jeremy Lauzon was injured in the Minnesota game, opening a spot for Stastney. Wiesblatt could make his NHL debut after receiving the call-up on New Year’s Eve.

“I just broke down, crying like a baby, and it was hilarious,” Wiesblatt told the team’s website. “Super excited to be here, honestly. It’s a dream come true.”

Predators forward Zachary L’Heureux has been suspended for three games due to a slew-footing incident in Nashville

The NHL has suspended Nashville Predators rookie forward Zachary L’Heureux for three games after he slew-footed Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon. The suspension came after L’Heureux had a hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Thursday afternoon.

The incident took place at 3:19 of the second period during the Predators’ 5-3 loss to the Wild on Tuesday. L’Heureux received a game misconduct for slew-footing Spurgeon while both players were chasing a loose puck. Spurgeon collided with the boards feet-first and was injured.

The NHL explained that most slew-footing penalties can be dealt with by in-game penalties. However, “when a player simultaneously kicks out the skates of an opponent from behind while at the same time driving his upper body backward, he renders his opponent defenseless and at risk of injury, and the offense may warrant supplemental discipline,” a Player Safety official said in an explanation video.

Nashville Predators (NHL)

“In this case, L’Heureux makes legal upper-body contact with Spurgeon, but then uses his arm and skates to push Spurgeon backwards in a way that leaves him defenseless. What makes the play more dangerous is the speed of the players and their closeness to the boards.”

Though this is L’Heureux’s first suspension in the NHL, he was suspended nine times while playing junior hockey in the QMJHL and twice in the AHL, according to the Tennessean.

L’Heureux will miss the Predators’ three-game road trip against the Vancouver Jets, Calgary Flames, and Winnipeg Jets on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday. He will be eligible to return on January 11 when the Predators play the Washington Capitals at home.

Drafted by Nashville in the first round (27th overall) in 2021, L’Heureux has earned nine points (four goals, five assists) and 32 penalty minutes in 33 games this season.

Wild pull ahead in the second period to defeat Predators

Marco Rossi scored two goals and added an assist, leading the Minnesota Wild to a 5-3 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Mats Zuccarello and Jonas Brodin each had a goal and an assist for the Wild, who won three of their last four games. Declan Chisholm also scored for Minnesota.

Colton Sissons, Jonathan Marchessault, and Ryan O’Reilly scored for Nashville.

Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson made 43 saves on 46 shots, improving his record to 17-6-3 this season. Predators goalie Justus Annunen allowed five goals on 38 shots.

Chisholm gave Minnesota the lead at 2:52 of the second period with a power-play goal. He took a slap shot that sailed over Annunen’s glove and into the net, putting the Wild ahead 4-3.

Rossi scored again on the power play at 12:53 of the third period to extend Minnesota’s lead to 5-3. He was parked in front of the net and knocked in a loose puck.

Nashville Predators (NHL)

The Wild took the lead early, with Rossi scoring a deflection goal 7:54 into the game. Zuccarello fired a shot from the left circle, and Rossi tipped it in for the first goal.

Sissons tied the game at 1-all just 3:06 later. He tipped in a slap shot from Brady Skjei, which came from near the blue line.

Nashville went ahead 2-1 with 4:46 left in the first period when Marchessault scored on a one-timer after the Wild turned the puck over in their own zone.

Zuccarello tied the game at 2 with a power-play goal at 13:41 of the second period. Joel Eriksson Ek made a great pass to Zuccarello, who scored from in front of the net.

Minnesota regained the lead at 3-2 when Brodin scored a long shot through traffic with 11:03 left in the second. Annunen couldn’t track the puck in time.

The game remained tight, and Nashville’s O’Reilly scored to make it 3-3 with 7:59 remaining in the second period. It was his second goal in the last four games.

Hellebuyck Shines in Jets’ 3-0 Win Over Predators, Panthers Bounce Back Against Rangers

The Winnipeg Jets secured a dominant 3-0 victory over the Nashville Predators, with Connor Hellebuyck earning his fifth shutout of the season. Hellebuyck made 22 saves, extending his lead in the NHL for shutouts. Gabriel Vilardi played a pivotal role, scoring twice on the power play within a minute in the final period. Defenseman Dylan DeMelo opened the scoring late in the second, marking his first goal of the season. With contributions from Nikolaj Ehlers and Kyle Connor, who each tallied two assists, Winnipeg continued its strong run, pushing its record to 27-9-1.

Despite a solid 25-save performance from Juuse Saros, the Predators couldn’t break through Winnipeg’s defense. The loss extended Nashville’s recent struggles, marking their second consecutive defeat after a promising 3-0-1 stretch. The Jets, meanwhile, capitalized on their power plays and suffocating defense to secure their fourth straight win.

In Florida, the Panthers defeated the New York Rangers 5-3, with Jesper Boqvist leading the charge with two goals. Eetu Luostarinen, Mackie Samoskevich, and Aleksander Barkov also contributed to the Panthers’ offensive outburst. Sergei Bobrovsky was solid in net, stopping 33 shots to give Florida a much-needed victory after being shut out in their previous two games. This win helped the Panthers break their offensive slump and maintain their position in the Eastern Conference.

The Rangers, who have been struggling, saw Filip Chytil, Ryan Lindgren, and Chris Kreider find the net. Kreider’s goal was especially notable, as it ended a frustrating 0-for-25 power-play drought. Igor Shesterkin made 21 saves in the loss, and the Rangers’ woes continued, as they have now lost seven of their past eight games, leaving them with a challenging road ahead.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Kraken defeated the Utah Hockey Club 5-2, thanks to a strong performance from Jaden Schwartz, who registered a goal and two assists. Yanni Gourde, Andre Burakovsky, Matty Beniers, and Jared McCann also scored for Seattle, helping the team recover from a five-game losing streak. Philipp Grubauer made 28 saves to preserve the win. Utah, led by Logan Cooley and Alexander Kerfoot’s goals, continued their skid, dropping their fourth straight game despite Karel Vejmelka’s 28-save effort.

Blues’ fast start leads to win over Predators

Robert Thomas and Zack Bolduc scored on St. Louis’ first two shots, and Thomas added another goal as the Blues defeated the Nashville Predators 7-4 on Friday.

The quick goals in the first three minutes helped St. Louis, who never trailed, get off to a strong start and win their second straight game after a 1-3-2 slump.

Cam Fowler scored a goal and added two assists for the Blues, while Jordan Kyrou had a goal and an assist. Philip Broberg and Colton Parayko also found the net, and Dylan Holloway registered two assists.

Nashville came close several times, pulling within one goal on four occasions, including Jonathan Marchessault’s power-play goal with nine minutes left in the game.

Marchessault and Steven Stamkos each had a goal and an assist. Nick Blankenburg and Mark Jankowski also scored for the Predators, who came into the game with a 3-0-1 record.

Thomas’ power-play goal with 4:50 remaining sealed the win for St. Louis, and Parayko added a short-handed empty-net goal with 1:15 left.

The Blues scored just 1:20 into the game. After intercepting a pass, Thomas broke through Nashville’s defense and beat goalie Juuse Saros, who was pulled late in the second period after allowing five goals on 15 shots.

Bolduc scored at 2:47 with a powerful wrist shot after receiving a pass from Oskar Sundqvist, which hit the post and went in.

Nashville Predators (NHL)

Nashville responded at 5:42 with a goal from Mark Jankowski, who sent the puck through a crowd in front of goalie Joel Hofer (26 saves).

St. Louis regained a two-goal lead at 9:57 of the first when Kyrou spun in the high slot and fired the puck into the net.

Nashville answered again at 13:17 with a power-play goal from Stamkos, assisted by Marchessault. But Fowler added a blast from the point late in the first period to make it 4-2 for the Blues.

Nashville pulled within one again in the second when Blankenburg weaved through traffic to score at 5:31.

Saros was replaced by Justus Annunen after Broberg intercepted a clearing attempt and scored to make it 5-3 with 4:31 left in the second. Annunen stopped 12 of 13 shots in relief.

Predators take on the Blues, aiming to keep their momentum going

After a strong performance during their homestand, the Nashville Predators return from the Christmas break playing some of their best hockey of the season, which has been a tough one overall.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Blues will look to win back-to-back games for the first time in more than three weeks.

The Predators, who are on a four-game point streak, will aim for rare road success when they face the Blues on Friday night.

Nashville has 29 points and is near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, but they just finished a 3-0-1 homestand.

In Nashville’s 5-2 win over Carolina on Monday, Jonathan Marchessault scored two goals and had an assist, Filip Forsberg added three assists, and Steven Stamkos scored for the third time in five games.

“We’ve been playing some better hockey, and it’s good,” said Marchessault, who has scored five times during a four-game goal streak. “I think we push hard … Come back (from the break) with a lot of energy.”

Nashville has a home record of 8-7-3 but is only 3-10-4 on the road. Friday will begin a six-game road trip for the Predators.

“We’re not satisfied,” said Stamkos, who has three goals and four assists in the last seven games. “We have to carry that (into the new year).”

The Blues are 2-6-1 at home but should have some momentum after ending a 1-1-1 road trip with a 4-0 win at Detroit on Monday.

St. Louis Blues players celebrate in the 3rd period

Dylan Holloway scored his first NHL hat trick, and Jordan Binnington stopped all 19 shots he faced for St. Louis, which had been limited to a single goal in each game during its previous 0-2-1 slide.

“Just a very complete game (Monday), and commitment to playing for each other,” said Binnington, who allowed at least three goals in six of his previous seven starts. “We need the points right now.”

The Blues are 3-4-2 since winning two straight games on Dec. 3 and 5.

Holloway, in his third NHL season and first with the Blues, already has set a career high with 13 goals. He ended a six-game point drought with his hat trick on Monday.

“It’s definitely good for the confidence,” Holloway said. “We got a lot of hockey to play … Just staying focused.”

Robert Thomas, with two assists against the Red Wings, now has 12 assists and 16 points in his last 11 games.

Meanwhile, Nashville’s Forsberg has not scored a goal in 13 straight games. However, he has 12 assists in his last seven contests. Forsberg has 20 goals and 23 assists in 38 career games against the Blues, and he had eight points while the Predators won all three meetings against them in the 2023-24 season.

Teammate Juuse Saros has a 2.32 goals-against average in his last three starts, all at home. However, he is struggling on the road with an 0-5-1 record and has allowed three goals in each of his last five road games.

As the Predators and Blues meet for the first time this season, Nashville has won four straight games in the series, including the last two at St. Louis.

The Nashville Predators are celebrating their 25th anniversary as an NHL franchise, officially becoming a team on May 4, 1998. They joined the league as the 27th franchise, marking the beginning of Nashville’s journey as a hockey city. Over the years, the team has seen significant growth, from a fledgling expansion franchise to one of the league’s most consistent teams.

Key players such as Pekka Rinne, Roman Josi, Shea Weber, Filip Forsberg, David Legwand, and Mike Fisher have played major roles in shaping the franchise and earning it the nickname “Smashville.” These athletes have helped make Nashville a respected hub for hockey fans, with the team consistently performing well in the regular season and playoffs.

Nashville Predators Celebrate 25 Years of Hockey Excellence and Smashville Legacy

Since its inception, the Predators have become a model of consistency, making the postseason in seven of the last eight seasons. They’ve also managed to post seven consecutive 40-win seasons, a feat matched by only a few other teams in the NHL. Nashville’s 698 points since the 2005-06 season rank fifth in the league, reflecting their sustained success over the years.

The highlight of the franchise’s history came during the 2016-17 season when the Predators made an unforgettable run to the Stanley Cup Finals. Despite a valiant effort, Nashville fell short in the series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, losing 2-0 in Game 6 on June 11, 2017. This season remains the pinnacle of the Predators’ success, solidifying their place in NHL history.

Nashville Predators Adopt Buyer’s Approach Ahead of Trade Deadline Under Barry Trotz’s Leadership

Barry Trotz, General Manager of the Nashville Predators, is taking an unexpected approach as the NHL trade deadline draws near. Despite the Predators being at the bottom of the standings, Trotz has adopted a buyer’s mindset, signaling that he plans to acquire assets rather than offload them. This is a major shift in direction from just a few weeks ago when Trotz had considered a full rebuild for the team. Instead of selling off players for future picks, he is now focused on improving the roster for both the present and future.

Although the NHL’s holiday roster freeze is in place until December 28, limiting trade activity for now, Trotz is already preparing for moves in the new year. Reports from Emma Lingan suggest that Trotz intends to use the cap space from recent transactions to make strategic acquisitions. Unlike typical “buying” at the trade deadline, which often involves renting players for a playoff push, Trotz is looking for long-term solutions to strengthen the team, focusing on pieces that will benefit the Predators beyond just this season.

Nashville Predators Adopt Buyer’s Approach Ahead of Trade Deadline Under Barry Trotz's Leadership
Nashville Predators Adopt Buyer’s Approach Ahead of Trade Deadline Under Barry Trotz’s Leadership

A key move that has helped open up financial flexibility for the Predators was the trade of defenseman Alexandre Carrier to the Montreal Canadiens. This deal, which cleared over $2 million in cap space, is part of Trotz’s broader strategy to reset the team’s roster in preparation for future success. By freeing up cap room and making the team younger and bigger, the trade positions the Predators to be more competitive in the coming seasons, without signaling a full rebuild. It reflects Trotz’s desire to remain aggressive in the market and build a more sustainable team.

Trotz has made it clear that this isn’t a full-scale rebuild, but rather a strategic retooling of the roster. The decision to buy, despite Nashville’s current standings, shows Trotz’s commitment to long-term growth. He believes the team can still be competitive in the future, and his moves reflect a broader vision for sustained success. This approach has surprised some fans, who expected the team to sell off assets in the face of a challenging season, but Trotz is staying focused on the bigger picture.

While the specifics of whom the Predators may target remain unclear, rumors suggest that Trotz had been pursuing players like Dylan Cozens before the roster freeze. Although no formal targets have been confirmed, Trotz’s strategy remains evident: he is looking to make moves that will help the team in the future, whether by adding young talent or players who can contribute over the long haul. This approach ensures that the Predators are building for success well beyond the current season.
