Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro played key roles in Tottenham’s 3-1 victory against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday.
This win boosted Spurs to fourth place in the league standings, giving them a strong position in the race for the final guaranteed spot in the Champions League.
Under Ange Postecoglou’s management, Tottenham is currently ahead of Aston Villa in fifth place by goal difference and also has a game in hand.
After a 1-1 draw at halftime, van de Ven and Porro scored within six minutes of each other in the second half to secure the win for Spurs.
The game started with a Spurs advantage, as Murillo’s own goal put them in the lead in the 15th minute. However, Chris Wood equalized for Forest, scoring for the fourth consecutive match.
In the second half, van de Ven scored a crucial goal from the edge of the penalty area in the 52nd minute, followed by Porro’s impressive half-volley six minutes later, extending Spurs’ lead to 3-1.
Although Son Heung-min hit the post late in the game, Spurs maintained their lead until the final whistle.
Forest remains above the relegation zone, tied on goal difference with 18th-place Luton, who defeated Bournemouth 2-1 on Saturday.
