Tottenham finalized the transfer of striker Dominic Solanke from Premier League team Bournemouth on Saturday. The deal is worth around 65 million pounds ($83 million).
Solanke, who has made one appearance for England, has agreed to a six-year contract with Tottenham just a week before the new Premier League season begins.
Although the exact fee was not revealed, Bournemouth mentioned it was a “significant financial package — the largest the club has ever received for a player.” Reports indicate Tottenham will pay 55 million pounds ($70 million) upfront, with an additional 10 million pounds ($12.75 million) in potential bonuses.
Bournemouth’s chief executive, Neill Blake, said, “After Dominic’s performances for us — in particular his impressive 2023-24 season — it has come as no surprise that a team of Tottenham’s caliber has shown an interest.”
Blake also thanked Solanke for his professionalism during the quick transfer process.
During his five years at Bournemouth, Solanke scored 77 goals in 214 appearances. He has also played for Chelsea and Liverpool.
In the upcoming season, Solanke will compete with Brazil international Richarlison for a starting role, with Tottenham’s first game against Leicester on August 19.
