Alasdair Gold has explained that Eric Dier, Hugo Lloris, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg might experience an uncomfortable situation in the Tottenham dressing room.
All three of them may not have a future at Tottenham. Two of them have not even been part of a matchday squad this season, and Hugo Lloris wanted to leave the club this summer, as explained by Football London journalist Gold on his YouTube channel.
Despite their situations, all three remained at Tottenham this season. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the only one who has been getting playing time, and Eric Dier might get a chance if Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven gets injured and has to leave the starting lineup.
However, when Tottenham recently named and confirmed their 25-man Premier League squad, all three of them, including Lloris, were included.
Last season, the retired French international was the club’s number-one goalkeeper. However, this season, he has fallen behind the new number one, summer signing Guglielmo Vicario, and even Fraser Forster in the pecking order.
Postecoglou has selected a new leadership group within the club, with Son Heung-min now serving as the captain. Cristian Romero and summer signing James Maddison have been named as his deputies.
Tottenham Changing Room
It is quite interesting that now we have three players, Lloris, Hojbjerg, and Dier, who were once part of the leadership group but do not have any leadership roles anymore,” Gold commented.
“It is going to be a good test of their professionalism. They are there as unofficial experienced players who will lead by example,” he explained.
“But it might become awkward if they start trying to lead, not in an official capacity, but by being more vocal and overshadowing the actual captains. It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out,” he added.
“Postecoglou has made it clear that the players should manage the dressing room themselves. He trusts them to do so, and he’ll intervene if things go off track.
It will be intriguing to observe how Maddison, Romero, and Sonny, as the trio of captains, essentially lead a group that includes some of their former superiors,” he said.

Tottenham Must Get rid of Players Who Are No Longer Useful
The summer 2023 transfer window could have been particularly frustrating for the fans.
Yes, they were really sad to see their star player, Harry Kane, leave, and it’s always great to bring in more talented players to improve your team.
But it is been evident for some time that these players, like Lloris, Dier, Ben Davies, and Hojbjerg, either don’t meet the required standard, are not in the team’s plans anymore, or wish to find new opportunities elsewhere.
Nevertheless, they remained with the club, contributing to the wage bill, which has, in turn, restricted Daniel Levy’s willingness to invest in new signings.
