Son Heung-min’s last-minute goal helped Tottenham remain in contention for Champions League qualification next season as they overturned a deficit to defeat struggling Luton 2-1 in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Tottenham had a slow start in the first half and conceded an early goal by Tahith Chong just three minutes into the game. Despite a lack of goals in the first half for the seventh consecutive home match, Tottenham improved significantly after halftime.

The equalizer came from an own goal by Issa Kabore in the 51st minute, and Tottenham continued to apply pressure on Luton. Son secured the victory with four minutes remaining after a swift counterattack, scoring his 15th goal of the season with the help of a deflection.

Tottenham vs Luton Town

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou commented, “It’s a game we probably should have made easier for ourselves. Everyone’s fighting for something, and Luton weren’t just going to lie down for us. We had to earn the win, and I thought we did that.”

With this win, Tottenham moved up to fourth place, level on points with Aston Villa, while Luton dropped back into the relegation zone. Luton manager Rob Edwards remarked, “It’s difficult at the best of times coming here.

The bit that gives me belief and confidence is how we’ve been with all the problems we’ve got at the moment. The players are completely with it, supporters are completely with it — that’s what gives me belief.”
