Wide receiver Trenton Irwin is set to remain with the Cincinnati Bengals. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Irwin has reached an agreement on a new contract with the Bengals. The deal spans one year and is valued at $2 million for Irwin.

Since joining the Bengals in 2019, Irwin’s role has gradually expanded. While he saw limited action in nine games across his initial three seasons, his involvement in the offense increased notably over the past two years.

Following a modest start of three receptions for 39 yards, Irwin demonstrated his value with 50 catches for 547 yards and five touchdowns during the subsequent seasons.

Irwin’s role in the 2024 season is expected to hinge on the developments surrounding Tee Higgins. With Higgins expressing a desire for a trade after being designated with the franchise tag earlier, his potential departure could create significant opportunities at the receiver position.

Furthermore, the potential departure of Tyler Boyd could further open doors for other receivers to step up in Cincinnati’s passing game.
