The Panthers will keep Bryce Young as their starting quarterback for the third week in a row, but head coach Dave Canales has avoided making any long-term plans about his future at the position.

General Manager Dan Morgan is also taking a cautious approach. In a press conference on Wednesday, Morgan said the team “never opened that door” when asked about any trade interest in Young before the deadline.

He also explained why the team is holding off on making long-term decisions regarding Young. “Yeah, I think every week, you know, we’re assessing Bryce,” Morgan said, according to the team’s website.

“We’re just seeing, taking it day by day, really just seeing him grow, seeing him develop, be under coach and work with him, learn under Andy [Dalton].

I think we do see him growing every day. We’re excited to work with him and keep working with him in the future. At the end of the day, we’ll have those conversations once the season ends and, we’ll see where we’re at.”

The Panthers believe the more they see off Young as the season goes on, the better prepared they’ll be to make decisions about the future direction of their offense. This means Young will likely continue to get more chances to play, but for now, the team is sticking to a week-to-week approach.
