Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is unlikely to play in Sunday’s game against Minnesota and might be out for a longer period of time.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Lawrence is considered doubtful for the game due to a left shoulder injury. While he is currently listed as day-to-day, Lawrence is looking into his options, and surgery is one of the possibilities to fix the injury.

With Lawrence unlikely to play, Mac Jones is expected to start in his place.

Head coach Doug Pederson mentioned on Wednesday that Lawrence is dealing with an upper-body injury, but did not confirm if there’s a chance the quarterback could miss the game this week.

Former Jaguars offensive coordinator Jay Gruden suggested Lawrence might need surgery, but Rapoport later clarified that no surgery has been scheduled.

Lawrence, 25, has completed 61.3% of his passes this season, throwing for 2,004 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns.

The Jaguars are currently 2-7. After playing the Vikings at home this week, they will travel to Detroit to face the Lions before their Week 12 bye. If surgery becomes necessary for Lawrence, it could become a key decision depending on the outcome of the team’s next two games.
