Corey Seager hit two home runs and Nathaniel Lowe contributed with two hits and two RBIs, aiding the Texas Rangers in their 6-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
Josh Smith and Leody Tavares also had two hits each for the team, which had faced six consecutive losses and a tough stretch of 12 losses in 14 games. This win marked the first time since their 12-11 triumph in Oakland on May 8 that the Rangers scored more than four runs.
“The team really needed this boost,” remarked Texas manager Bruce Bochy. “Sometimes it felt like we were stuck in a rut and couldn’t see a way out.”
While the Rangers suffered a sweep in Philadelphia and then lost two out of three games at Target Field, Seager managed to find his groove during the road trip. Over the past five games, the shortstop has gone 7 for 20 with five home runs and seven RBIs.
“He’s been in incredible form. It’s a joy to watch elite hitters find their rhythm, and he’s certainly found his,” Bochy added. “He’s been making solid connections and capitalizing on his opportunities.”
On the Twins’ side, Carlos Correa had two hits and drove in a run, and Max Kepler contributed with a run-scoring double. However, Minnesota’s starting pitcher, Pablo López, struggled, allowing six runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, marking his third consecutive loss.
Despite this, López remained focused on the positives, emphasizing the importance of sticking to the process and minimizing free passes.
Meanwhile, it was a memorable major league debut for Rangers starter Gerson Garabito, who allowed only one run and two hits in 3 2/3 innings. The 28-year-old right-hander had spent 10 seasons in various organizations before receiving his call-up from Triple-A Round Rock.
