Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the Miami Dolphins’ top wide receivers, returned to practice on Monday, signaling positive developments for the team. Both players had been dealing with injuries throughout the summer.
Waddle’s injuries were undisclosed, and he didn’t participate in any preseason games, even wearing a non-contact jersey during the final week. Hill, who missed all three preseason games and a joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a thumb injury, also returned to the field.
Hill reassured fans and fantasy football enthusiasts that he was in good health, stating that he just needed some days off to rest. He emphasized that he’s “A-OK” and ready for the season, attributing his absence to a desire to take care of his body, especially as an older player. Hill joked about trolling fans with his brief absence, ensuring them that there’s nothing to worry about.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that there were no setbacks for either Hill or Waddle, and neither wore non-contact jerseys during Monday’s practice. McDaniel acknowledged the need to balance training with maintaining the players’ health, especially for veteran athletes like Hill, who need to be mindful of their physical maintenance.
In addition to Hill and Waddle, offensive lineman Aaron Brewer also returned to practice after missing three weeks with a lower arm injury. His availability for the Dolphins’ Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars is still uncertain, but McDaniel expressed confidence in the team’s offensive line, regardless of whether Brewer is able to play.
Safety Jevon Holland and cornerback Jalen Ramsey were also present during the stretch portion of Monday’s practice. While Ramsey left the field shortly after the media arrived, Holland appeared to be fully participating, indicating that the Dolphins are gradually getting their key players back on the field as the season approaches.
