Tyreek Hill had a subdued performance in the Miami Dolphins’ heavy loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Hill, the top receiver in the NFL for 2023, managed only three catches for 24 yards in a 31-10 defeat. This was his lowest yardage since he had three catches for 23 yards against the New York Jets in the last game of the 2022 regular season. In 2023, he hadn’t had a game with fewer than 40 receiving yards until now.
Hill made headlines all week after a confrontation with police officers during a traffic stop on his way to the Dolphins’ season opener.
On Sunday, a verbal altercation between Hill and Miami-Dade police officers escalated quickly just hours before the Dolphins’ game began.
Hill rolled up the window of his McLaren sports car after an officer instructed him to lower it, leading to him being pulled from the vehicle and pushed face-first onto the ground. He was handcuffed, and an officer put a knee in his back.
Hill was released after being cited for careless driving and not wearing his seatbelt, with a total fine of $309. Later, he caught an 80-yard touchdown pass that helped the Dolphins win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Police Department Director Stephanie Daniels assigned Officer Danny Torres to administrative duty, and an internal investigation is in progress.
